September 6 & 7, 2025 – from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This weekend, everything at Vianden Castle revolves around the theme of paper. The popular material will take center stage in numerous demonstrations.

In addition to the sale of valuable and antique books, visitors can look forward to a diverse and engaging program.

They will be introduced to various materials and paper raw materials, follow the traditional papermaking process, and discover different printing techniques such as etching, lithography, and calligraphy. The event will also highlight the importance of paper recycling.

Younger visitors can fully immerse themselves in the world of paper through various creative workshops.

An interesting and educational experience for the whole family.

Program for Saturday, September 6

10:00 a.m.: Dictation in the “Veiner” dialect in the Vic. Abens Hall. Duration: 10–15 minutes. Registration (required) and further information about the dictation by phone: +352 83 41 08-1 or by email: info@castle-vianden.lu

11:00 a.m.: Official opening of the Veiner Pabeier-a Béicherdeeg. and announcement of the dictation winners

2:30 p.m.: Reading by Luxembourgish author Jean-Marie Backes – JEM from his book “Great Art and Hard Work”. The history of the construction workers who, 60 years ago, built the large pumped-storage power plant in Vianden.

5:00 p.m.: Reading of four texts from the book “Our Grandmothers”. Granddaughters share stories about their grandmothers.

The stories in this book speak of love and loss, tradition and progress, strength and perseverance. For many of these women, life was about much more than just kitchen and children. This book, which portrays the rich diversity of women’s life stories in Luxembourg, was published in 2024 by the association Femmes pionnières du Luxembourg. It highlights the deep connection between grandmothers and granddaughters and contributes to the collective memory of our country.
