The Tour de Luxembourg returns from 17 to 21 September – a must-see event for all cycling fans!

We are proud to announce that for the second time, one stage will finish right at Vianden Castle. Top international teams will race through our beautiful region and cross the finish line in a truly historic setting.

Road and car park closures

For the duration of the cycle race, we would like to inform you that the following streets will be completely closed to traffic from 8am to 7pm:

  • Rue du Vieux Marché
  • Grand Rue
  • Rue du Ruisseau
  • Am Schank
  • Vieille Rue
  • Montée du Château

School transport is only provided in the morning on this day. After school at 12h00, 14h00 and at 16h00 there is no school bus on this day.

If you need your car that day, we advise you to park it before 8.00 am in the following alternative car parks:

  • Parking Larei
  • Parking Atelier Communal
  • Route de Diekirch

In addition, deliveries and work by companies will not be possible on the closed streets on that day.

Race schedule

The start of stage 3 of the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg will be given at 12.20pm in Mertert. The entire route covers 168.4 km before the finish at Vianden Castle.

The following table shows when the cyclists will arrive in Vianden. The table also gives different indications depending on the average speed. We have the great advantage of seeing the cyclists 4 times in the Rue du Vieux Marché and in the Grand Rue.

This table is always the indication for the first cyclist in the race. It can take up to 40 minutes towards the end of the race until everyone has passed.

Party & Public Viewing

To round off the race, a public festival will be held on Place Engelmann from 14h00. Here, various local associations will take care of the physical well-being.
On this square you can not only watch the riders pass by 4 times, but there will also be a large screen on which the entire race will be shown in public viewing from 15h00.
After the last rider has arrived at the castle (+/- 17h30), the DJ team “Dräibeats” will also provide the right music to end the evening well with us.

How to get there?

To ensure you have a pleasant journey to Vianden, here is all the information you need on how to get there, parking facilities and public transport.

As several roads are completely closed to traffic on this day, it is a little more difficult to get to the centre of Vianden than usual.

By car:

  • Please drive to Vianden via Bettel or Fouhren.
  • When you arrive in Vianden, you will be shown some parking places. (Route de Diekirch, Larei, Camping Deich, Atelier Communal).
  • from 8 AM until 2 PM  there is also a shuttle that will take you to the race.

The shuttle runs the following route:
Camping Moulin -rue de Huy – Gare – rue du Sanatorium – Larei – Ale Moort – Grand-rue -Montée du château – Schank – Belvedère – route de Diekirch – Grand-rue – Ale Moort – Larei – rue Victor Hugo.
– Gare – rue Neugarten/rue Mönchkelterhous – Camping Moulin

By bus:

  • From Ettelbruck/Diekirch with the 180 & 181 line.

No matter which line you take to get to Vianden, you must always get off at the “Vianden Gare” stop.
